Gray Reed Facilitates Successful Sale of Wayman Place and Dorset Place Assisted Living and Memory Care Facilities on Behalf of Court-Appointed Receiver

Gray Reed is pleased to announce the successful sale of two assisted living and memory care facilities on behalf of Michael F. Flanagan, court-appointed Receiver, in Fannie Mae v. Amelia Aid Propco, et al., Cause No. 1:23-cv-862 (pending in the United States District Court for the District of Washington DC), where Jason Brookner and London England of Gray Reed represent the Receiver. The facilities, Wayman Place and Dorset Place, are located in Longwood, Florida and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, respectively, and are the last two facilities in the case to be sold from an extensive marketing and sales process.

Both sales were deemed to be in the best interest of creditors and were cooperatively facilitated with the support of Fannie Mae. Blueprint HCRE (Healthcare Real Estate) led the brokerage efforts with Amy Sitzman and Giancarlo Riso at the helm, ensuring continuity of care for the residents of both facilities under new ownership.

In total, these are the Receiver’s 13th and 14th successful sales, representing closings across seven states and bringing more than $22 million of value to the Receivership estate. Gray Reed attorneys involved in the matter, in addition to Brookner and England, include Rachel Poynter and Emily Bowlin, bringing together preeminent restructuring, healthcare, and real estate teams to represent the Receiver in each of these sales.

“These sales represent the peak of how Gray Reed operates: we run efficient deal teams across departments to ensure that every aspect of our client’s business is protected and considered as part of a sale,” England shared. “These transactions brought together our experience as Receiver’s counsel, Rachel Poynter leading the healthcare transaction, and Emily Bowlin selling the real estate assets. Working together across departments with Rachel and Emily has been a career highlight—they are incredibly diligent and thoughtful leaders in their own departments and representing the seller in these deals on an all-woman team has been very rewarding.”
