Gray Reed attorneys Gabe Vick and Jeremy Walter obtained a unanimous jury verdict in Dallas County in favor of the firm’s client in a triple-fatality wrongful death and survival case. The firm’s client and its driver were sued by the parents of a teenager killed in a head-on collision near Big Spring, Texas in a case styled Patrick Weaver, et al. v. Teresa Huitt-Darling, et al. in the 44th District Court of Dallas County. The plaintiffs alleged that Gray Reed’s client and its driver caused the fatal crash by crossing the center line on a two-lane highway. The initial investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) concluded Gray Reed’s client was solely at fault. However, through extensive discovery and advocacy, the Gray Reed team uncovered evidence that the DPS investigation was critically flawed. The team then went on to win a unanimous defense verdict in which the jury found the plaintiffs’ son to be 100% liable for the accident.
"We are extremely pleased with the jury's decision, which confirms our client bore no responsibility for this tragedy," said Gray Reed Partner Gabe Vick, who served as co-lead counsel. "The death of a loved one is never easy, but we hope the verdict closes this chapter for our client and all involved.”
