Partner Nancy Bostic joined the corporate law section on April 18 (Houston), Staff Attorney Jason Duke joined the energy section on May 1 (Houston), Counsel Dylan Drummond joined the appellate law section on May 15 (Dallas), Associate Jake Lewis joined the employment law section on May 24 (Dallas), Associate Ethan Wood joined the energy section on May 30 (Dallas) and Staff Attorney Mauri Whitacre-Hinterlong joined the energy section on June 13 (Dallas).
Bostic represents public and private companies and private equity funds in securities issuances, acquisitions and dispositions of assets and equity, joint ventures, recapitalizations, financings and change of control transactions valued at up to $3.5 billion. She has extensive experience negotiating complex partnership and limited liability company structures. She frequently represents private equity funds investing in or selling portfolio companies and counsels companies in strategic transactions. Her clients focus in the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors and in the oilfield service and chemical and product manufacturing industries.
Since 2010, Bostic has counseled companies, private equity funds and management teams in transactions valued in excess of $7.5 billion.
She attended Tufts University for her undergraduate education and earned her J.D., cum laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law and her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Duke focuses on energy law. As a landman for six years, he has a vast amount of experience in the oil and gas industry. He has worked with clients from leasehold acquisition to divestiture, including drafting of runsheets, title reports, curative instruments, and other documents as necessary. He also has experience working in-house with clients on various projects, including division of interest maintenance and expert witness work.
Duke earned his undergraduate degree from University of Houston and his law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston.
Drummond is a former Texas Supreme Court clerk, and an accomplished civil appellate and commercial litigator who represents clients in complex civil disputes in state, federal and administrative forums at trial and on appeal.
Drummond’s commercial litigation practice includes providing strategic counsel aimed at preserving error through pre- and post-trial motion practice, expert designation disputes, jury charge preparation, class certification and dispositive motion practice. His civil appellate practice before state and federal appellate courts consists of pursuing traditional, accelerated, agreed and permissive appeals; original proceedings and extraordinary writs; as well as petition, merits and amicus briefing before the Texas Supreme Court.
He attended Texas Tech University for his B.S., M.B.A., and J.D. degrees.
Lewis focuses his practice on employment litigation disputes, including defense of employers under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and state anti-discrimination laws.
He has also represented several pro bono clients in various contexts, including guardianship hearings, immigration proceedings, and truancy court.
Lewis earned his BA and MA, both in political science, from The University of Texas at Dallas. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law. While in law school, he served as a staff writer for the Washington and Lee Law Review and senior articles editor for the German Law Journal. Lewis also interned for the Honorable Harold R. DeMoss Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Wood focuses his practice on energy law. He has significant experience with natural resources law, lease and contract negotiations, title opinions, regulatory compliance, and environmental and surface use. He also has extensive knowledge and proficiency with oil and gas law in multiple jurisdictions, including Texas, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.
Before starting his law practice, Wood was an independent petroleum landman.
He earned his B.A, summa cum laude, from Southern Methodist University and his J.D., cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
Whitacre-Hinterlong is a staff attorney at Gray Reed and focuses her practice on energy law. She has extensive experience with title opinions, along with commercial real estate as it pertains to the acquisition and divestiture of commercial properties.
She earned her B.A. in political science and history from Vanderbilt University and her J.D. from Marquette University Law School.
