CJ Burton joined Gray Reed in 2025 after serving as a summer associate with the firm in 2024. He focuses his practice on litigation, representing clients in a wide variety of commercial, personal injury, probate, criminal and real estate disputes.

CJ built a strong foundation in trial work early in his career, gaining experience in both bench and jury proceedings. He has taken active roles in developing case strategy, preparing matters for trial and presenting cases in the courtroom. In his first year, he tried three cases to favorable verdicts, including serving as lead attorney in a contract dispute. Drawing on his work in civil and criminal matters, CJ brings a practical, trial-ready perspective to each stage of litigation.

While attending the University of Texas School of Law, CJ was a member of the Criminal Defense Clinic, where he represented clients in Travis County Court and developed his courtroom and negotiation skills. He was also certified as a mediator by the Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution. CJ was active in several student organizations, including the Texas Review of Law & Politics, the Texas Review of Billiards Law and the Christian Legal Society.
