Gray Reed Attorneys Appointed to International Tax Committee of the Tax section of the State Bar of Texas

Gray Reed & McGraw attorneys Deidra Hubenak and Chris Harris were appointed as chairs to the International Tax Committee of the Tax section of the State Bar of Texas. Hubenak was appointed Chair and Harris was appointed Vice Chair.

The primary goal of the International Tax Committee is to promote networking amongst attorneys interested in the area of International Tax. The Committee sponsors a one-day seminar in the late fall on International Tax. The first symposium was held in 1998 and is attended by approximately 100 tax professionals each year. This symposium has been able to attract top speakers from around the country. Other activities of the Committee include providing the article on Current Developments in International Tax to the Texas Tax Lawyer and providing at least three articles on International Tax for publication each year.

Deidra Wilson Hubenak is board certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience providing multinational corporations, closely held businesses and individuals with tax planning.  Half of that experience was obtained while working in the international tax section of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP and the federal tax section of Ernst & Young, LLP.

Chris Harris' practice focuses on federal income and estate tax matters.  His practice includes advising clients on tax-efficient structures for corporate mergers, acquisitions, divisions, and reorganizations both domestically and internationally.  He also advises clients on the formation, capitalization, and liquidation of partnerships, s-corporations, and other pass-through entities. Chris also provides tax planning expertise for improving corporate tax efficiencies as well as executive compensation packages. Additionally, Chris represents individuals in all aspects of their business and estate planning needs.  He focuses on the preparation of wills and trusts, the creation of family limited partnerships and other entities, and the analysis of related estate tax, gift tax, and generation-skipping transfer tax issues.
