Two Gray Reed Attorneys Recognized with State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section Awards

Gray Reed is proud to announce that two Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy attorneys, Partner Amber Carson and Associate Emily Shanks, have been recognized by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Section for their outstanding contributions to the bankruptcy law practice.

Carson was honored with the 2025 Pro Bono Service Award, which recognizes attorneys who have made significant contributions to promoting pro bono bankruptcy law practice in Texas.

Shanks received the 2025 Romina L. Mulloy-Bossio Achievement Award, presented by the Young Lawyers Committee to an exceptional young bankruptcy attorney who has demonstrated commitment to community service, pro bono activities and mentorship of fellow young attorneys in the field.

"Amber and Emily exemplify the dedication, skill and commitment to service that are hallmarks of Gray Reed's restructuring practice," Gray Reed's Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group Leader Jason Brookner says. "Their recognition by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Section highlights not only their legal acumen but also their genuine commitment to serving both the profession and the broader community. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the impact they continue to make."

Both Carson and Shanks are members of Gray Reed's Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group, which represents troubled companies, trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, official and ad hoc committees, equity holders, owners, managers, and other constituents in financial distress across multiple industries including healthcare, retail, construction, oil and gas, restaurant, and manufacturing. The team provides comprehensive guidance through workout, turnaround, restructuring, planning, and bankruptcy scenarios—both in and out of court.
