Gray Reed Ranks Sixth and Partner Philip Jordan Second in Texas M&A Deal Volume

Gray Reed continued its M&A success, ranking sixth in Texas Lawbook’s 2025 Texas-led Corporate Deal Tracker for the second straight year as the firm grew its deal count to 75 in 2025This consistent growth demonstrates the firm’s robust M&A practice across multiple sectors. Energy Partner and practice group leader Philip Jordan ranked #2 on the 2025 attorney deal count rankings with 28 closed energy transactions worth over $1.8 billion.

Texas Lawbook created and maintains the Corporate Deal Tracker (CDT) to evaluate M&A transactions led by Texas attorneys. The rankings are based on law firm submissions, business disclosures and dealmaker interviews, distinguishing between Texas-led deals where Texas attorneys serve as primary counsel and Texas-related deals where they play supporting roles.

  • Recognized for the Deal of the Year for 2025 ($250-$500 million) by The M&A Advisor Awards for its representation of shareholders of IRISNDT in its sale from First Reserve to Apave Group, positioning the company for continued global growth.
  • Named a finalist in The M&A Advisor Awards for its representation of NextEra Energy Services New York, LLC, and Frontier Utilities Northeast LLC in the acquisition of Approved Energy II LLC and its representation of the sellers in the acquisition of LD Systems by Clair Global.
  • Counseled Texas Pacific Land Corporation in two coordinated transactions totaling $470 million, structured as a single, unified deal strengthening its Midland Basin footprint.
  • Counseled the shareholders of EverLine in its sale from First Reserve to Cogenuity Partners.
  • Counseled Epsilon Energy Ltd. in its acquisition of Peak Exploration and Production LLC and Peak BLM Lease LLC, which were majority owned by funds of Yorktown Energy Partners LLC. The transaction establishes Epsilon’s operated presence in the Powder River Basin and strengthens its platform for growth across North American assets.
