Charlie Rose, GRPR
Director of Strategic Communication, GRPR Public Affairs

Charlie Rose works closely with GRPR clients to navigate the ever-changing public opinion and perception landscape. With an educational foundation in sports media and management from Oklahoma State University and Southern Methodist University, combined with practical expertise from multiple communication roles within the OSU and SMU athletic departments, Charlie leverages his experience to provide tailored guidance and solutions that enable clients to effectively monitor sentiment, respond to crises, polish executive profiles, and uphold positive brand images amid shifting societal views and evolving public discourse.

After completing his undergraduate degree in sports media from Oklahoma State University, where he worked in the PR office as a full-time student for three years, serving as the primary communications contact for two teams and the secondary contact for Cowboy football during the 2022 season, Charlie moved back home to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. There, he pursued a master’s degree in sports management from Southern Methodist University while serving as a Graduate Assistant for the SMU Athletic Public Relations office during the 2022-23 school year.

In his role as Assistant Director of Public Relations for SMU Athletics following graduation, Charlie led communications strategies for five different NCAA Division I programs, acting as the primary communications contact while also serving as the secondary Sports Information Director for the Mustangs’ football team. He guided these teams and their coaches, coordinating interviews and stories, writing press releases, managing official sport and athletics-wide social media accounts, and collaborating with several departments across athletics to ensure consistent messaging and communications efforts through all channels.

Throughout the last five years, Charlie excelled in pressure-filled environments, fostering relationships with media, players, and coaches to prepare them for media responsibilities. He assembled game note documents, previews, and recaps, worked with TV and radio crews, and updated and maintained historical records. Rose also worked and planned marketing strategies around the Mustangs' "Dallas' Team" initiative and helped devise messaging and marketing efforts for SMU's move to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

While studying and working at SMU, Charlie further developed an interest and passion for business. In April 2024, he transitioned from working with teams, coaches, and administrators to executives, political and thought leaders, and their private businesses and/or public entities, joining GRPR as the Director of Strategic Communications. Here, he is tasked with serving the needs of the firm’s existing clients while developing continued relationships in the public and private sectors, leveraging his proven track record of delivering results to effectively manage public perception and opinion.
