Polygraph Protection

Before 1988, businesses could essentially break out a polygraph machine to test employees anytime they liked and rely on the results in all business decisions.  After Congress passed the EPPA, use of polygraph examination almost disappeared, but they can still be used in limited circumstances - including investigation of a theft, but there are alternatives that may work even better.

After reading this month's issue of the Employer Handbook, even if you'll never use a test, you'll now at least understand why you have to post that notice in the breakroom.
