Donte served in the United States Army from 2010-2014 as an Electronic Warfare Cryptologic Linguist with a specialty in North Korean dialect and military tactics. Following his honorable discharge, he demonstrated his commitment to service as a legal assistant at Lonestar Legal Aid Military Veterans Unit.
While earning his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas, he was elected to the prestigious honor society of Alpha Sigma Lambda, and the honor society of philosophy - Phi Sigma Tau. In his spare time, Donte was an active volunteer in the veteran community as a Mission Continues Fellow, a Wounded Warrior Project member, and a Sentinel of Freedom.
At Baylor Law School, Donte developed his love for advocacy in Baylor’s renowned Trial Advocacy program. Donte was a member of the mock trial team for two years and competed in the 2020 AAJ Student Trial Advocacy Competition. For his commitment to exceptional advocacy, Donte received the Joe Cannon Trial Advocacy Award and was inducted into Baylor’s Barrister Society. He also served as a member and coach of Baylor’s Client Counseling team and received the Peeler Williams Jr. Client Counseling Award. During that time, he won the 2019 ABA Client Counseling Regional Competition and the 2019 Naman Howell Smith & Lee, P.L.L.C. Client Counseling Competition. Donte took on a leadership role as President of Baylor's Black Law Student Association and an officer of Baylor’s Leadership Engagement and Development – a program committed to teaching leadership skills to local high school students.
