Recent Iranian Sanctions and its Effect on the Petroleum Industry and Your Company
Gray Reed Brown Bag Webinar Series

In late June 2010, the United States passed stringent sanctions against Iran that further restrict investment in Iran's energy sector and cracks down on federal contractors that do business with Iran. Gray Reed attorneys Don Looper and Ellie Natenberg will discuss the recent sanctions that were passed by the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations against Iran and their effect on non-U.S. companies that engage in activities in the oil and gas sector that could fall within the purview of these sanctions. As a part of this discussion, they will discuss the legal aspects of the sanctions (i.e., activities that are prohibited), and the practical aspect of the sanctions (i.e., measures that companies can take).

Don's practice focuses on the tax aspects related to partnership, corporate, and international transactions. His skills for structuring and managing international business transactions have resulted in his being selected by clients to manage international projects negotiated in 33 foreign countries and across the United States. Among his areas of expertise include U.S. and U.N. regulatory sanctions against foreign jurisdictions and designated nationals.

Ellie has experience handling the recent Iranian trade sanctions. She concentrates her practice on general commercial and business litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.
