Jury Verdict Among Top 100 in 2010

In April 2010, Drew York, an Associate for the litigation section at Gray Reed & McGraw, was a member of the plaintiffs' trial team in Randy Schafer et al. v. Bayer CropScience LP, et al., in which a Lonoke County, Arkansas jury returned a $47,975,605.00 verdict for a dozen Arkansas rice farmers after two different types of Bayer CropScience's experimental genetically modified rice were found in the United States rice supply in 2006  and 2007. That verdict was recently recognized as the 42nd largest verdict awarded last year in Verdict Search's Top 100 Verdict in America for 2010. The plaintiffs' trial team was led by Scott Powell of Hare Wynn Newell & Newton LLP in Birmingham, Alabama.   Bayer is currently appealing the verdict.

"It was a privilege to work with Mr. Powell, and his partners Paul Byrd, Don McKenna and Jim Thompson, as well as Grant Davis from Davis Bethune & Jones, LLC in Kansas City and Jennifer Hoekstra from Neblett Beard & Arsenault in Alexandria, Louisiana," York said. "We feel that the jury's decision was a just and fair verdict. I am honored to be listed in the Top 100 Verdicts by Verdict Search.
