Athey Recognized for 50 Years of Service

Bernard Athey, a Member of Gray Reed & McGraw's oil & gas section, was recognized for his 50th year as a licensed attorney in Texas during the State Bar Annual of Texas Annual Meeting on June 15. Pictured is Bernard and his family.

Bernard is Board Certified by the State Bar of Texas in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law and has over 45 years of experience working in the oil and gas industry and related fields. Bernard's practice focuses on representing primarily oil and gas companies and individuals in their oil and gas operations and title examination. A substantial amount of his practice consists of preparation of title opinions from abstracts or run sheets prepared by landmen. He is currently the manager of the Gray Reed & McGraw title examination team, which includes a strong core group of experienced energy lawyers who understand the energy business and have a wealth of experience in the examination of title and the preparation of title opinions for drilling, division orders, financing transactions, and acquisitions.

The State Bar of Texas is the fifth largest organization of lawyers in the United States. The State Bar Act, adopted by the Legislature in 1939, mandates that all attorneys licensed to practice law in Texas be members of the State Bar.
