Jury Sides with Gray Reed Client in $3M Breach of Contract Suit

Gray Reed & McGraw LLP represented a Houston-based, Fortune 500 company in the defense of a breach-of-contract-claim brought by its former labor supplier.

The plaintiff sued Gray Reed’s client in Harris County state court for its alleged failure to pay for work allegedly provided by the company at 40 different locations throughout the southeastern US, including Texas and Oklahoma, for over four years. The plaintiff sought damages exceeding $1.6 million for alleged unpaid work, plus consequential damages of over $1 million and attorneys' fees of more than $330,000.

On Jan. 30, 2018, after a six-day jury trial in the 80th District Court, the jury returned a verdict finding Gray Reed’s client had no liability and therefore no damages were awarded to the Plaintiff.

The client was represented by Gray Reed attorneys Daryl Bailey, David Leonard and Dylan Drummond.
