Gray Reed Attorney Co-authors Chapter in American Bar Association Healthcare Book

Gray Reed Of Counsel Pat Souter, along with Dr. Merhnaz Hadian, co-authored one of nine chapters in “Physician Law: Evolving Trends & Hot Topics 2017”. The chapter is titled “Doctors’ Defense in Medical Staff Hearings and Appeals:  An Overview for Attorneys and their Physician Clients".

“Physician Law: Evolving Trends & Hot Topics 2017” emanates from the American Bar Association Health Law Section's 2017 Physicians Legal Issues Conference and includes a number of peer-reviewed chapters on core physician-centric legal topics from authors including nationally-recognized physicians, lawyers, government officials and other industry experts.

Souter is known for his legal and educational experience in the healthcare industry, making him a sought-after resource for clients and students alike. His primary areas of practice are related to transactional and administrative healthcare, corporate, securities and antitrust matters. 

He is also a professor of health care studies at Baylor University School of Law where he teaches health care law, health care fraud and abuse and regulation of Health Care Professionals. Pat also teaches students in the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business M.B.A. Program as well.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Souter obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Juris Doctorate from Baylor University and his M.B.A. in Health Services Management at the University of Dallas. He is Board Certified in Healthcare Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Pat has also completed the training by the American Health Lawyers Association as a Mediator and Arbitrator.
