(Houston) – The State Bar of Texas recently highlighted Gray Reed attorney Taylor Lamb’s pro bono efforts, in conjunction with the National Pro Bono Celebration (Oct. 19-25). The Texas Access to Justice Commission, the American Bar Association, and others also collaborate on efforts for the week.
In a particularly memorable case, Taylor assisted a military veteran, Kathy, with a divorce after her now ex-husband assaulted her. In addition to handling the divorce, Taylor worked to get protective orders for Kathy and represent her in hearings in Brazoria County.
Taylor called Kathy the “perfect client”. “She was so patient and brave in working through the traumatic facts of the case,” Lamb said. She was touched that at the final hearing, Kathy brought a notebook she kept throughout the legal proceedings containing all of the emails Lamb had written to her. “She was so visibly relieved to have this behind her.”
Taylor, an associate in the firm’s corporate section, has worked on pro bono matters through Gray Reed since the firm founded its pro bono committee in 2012.
