Gray Reed Tax Partner Named Forbes Contributor

Gray Reed Partner Joshua Smeltzer has been named a Forbes Contributor and will provide analysis on tax law and digital asset topics to Forbes.com's global readership.

Since its launch in 2010, Forbes has consistently built, expanded, updated and refined its Contributor Network. In addition to staff journalists, Forbes now has approximately 2,600 contributors publishing content on Forbes.com from around the world, each with a particular expertise. The network includes award-winning writers and professionals, as well as sought-after leaders and experts across different topic areas.

"Having Joshua’s insights featured on a platform as influential as Forbes underscores his exceptional expertise in tax law and digital assets,” Dan Kroll, Gray Reed Tax Practice Group Leader, says. “His ability to address complex tax and digital assets issues will undoubtedly resonate with Forbes’ wide-reaching audience."

Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Smeltzer focuses his practice on defending taxpayers in all stages of civil and criminal tax proceedings, including sensitive audits and examinations. Joshua frequently represents corporations, complex partnerships, family offices, estates and trusts and high-net-worth individuals. Smeltzer also serves as Co-Chair of Gray Reed’s Digital Asset Practice and has extensive experience in industries such as real estate, energy, insurance, private equity, digital assets and blockchain technology.

Smeltzer’s recent Forbes.com articles have examined topics such as taxation oversight and enforcement in the new year, the IRS's focus on front-end services and legal challenges to the IRS’s decentralized finance (DeFi) regulations. For links to his recent articles, click here
