Gray Reed Announces New Energy Practice Group and Industry Team Leaders

Gray Reed promotes Partner Philip Jordan to Energy Practice Group Leader and Partner Charlie Sartain to Energy Industry Team Leader. Both are based in Dallas and the change is effective immediately.

Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Jordan has successfully negotiated and closed nearly every type of oil and gas deal imaginable, from complex acquisitions, divestitures and mergers to gathering agreements, farmout agreements and various other commercial and operational transactions. He leverages his previous in-house experience as Executive Vice President – Land and General Counsel for Crossing Rocks Energy II, LLC and General Counsel at PetroMax Operating Co. to help clients solve everyday problems and develop long-term strategies to expand their businesses while also minimizing risk. Jordan has deep experience in the formation of numerous oil and gas entity structures and helping clients capitalize new companies and projects through both debt and equity financing. He also advises clients on a variety of operational and corporate governance matters, title questions and environmental due diligence issues.

Gray Reed’s energy transactional team routinely advises clients on the acquisition and divestiture of oil, gas and renewable energy assets, such as the purchase or sale of producing wells and leases, the acquisition of mineral and royalty interests for institutional investors, the purchase and sale of hydrocarbon pipeline or saltwater transportation assets, the purchase and sale of properties for solar and wind development, and oilfield services assets. The energy transactional team also counsels clients on the capital requirements necessary to support their businesses, including public and private equity raises, debt capital and securities offerings. His clients include oil and gas producers and investors, midstream transportation operators, and mineral and royalty owners involved all types of contractual, payment and operational disputes. Sartain is the author and editor of Energy & The Law, a blog focused on exploring critical developments in the energy industry and how they impact clients from a legal and business perspective.
