GOP, Democrats vie to Fill Fifth District Court of Appeals Seat
Dallas Morning News

The Fifth District Court of Appeals will lose one of its longtime justices next month when Justice Jim Moseley retires after 18 years on the court.

Local Republicans and Democrats have both jumped at the chance to fill the vacancy on the 13-justice court, which handles civil and criminal appeals for Dallas, Collin, Grayson, Hunt, Rockwall and Kaufman counties. Because of the timing of Moseley’s retirement, voters will elect his replacement in November instead of the governor appointing a new justice.
