Gray Reed’s Travis Crabtree Explains the SOPA Debate
News 92.1 FM

On the day websites such as Wikipedia commemorated Internet Blackout Day in protest of the proposed Stop Online Privacy Act, or SOPA, Internet Lawyer Travis Crabtree of Gray Reed explained the debate on News 92.1 FM. As explained by Travis in the interview, SOPA is a Congressional proposal that allows the Department of Justice or copyright owners to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement. The relief can include anything from preventing credit cards or PayPal from processing orders from those sites, preventing search engines from listing the sites and forcing Internet Service Providers to block access to the sites. There is fiery rhetoric on both sides of the debate, but Travis cuts through the noise to explain the issues in this radio interview. You can also read his summary on his blog, www.emedialaw.com.

Crabtree brings a unique perspective to his internet marketing, online media and commercial litigation practice. Travis graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and spent several years in television news before taking on a law career. In addition, Travis represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex business matters including cases involving defamation, open records issues, antitrust, RICO, the False Claims Act, shareholder derivatives, minority shareholder oppression, corporate officer/director fiduciary cases, partnership disputes, trade secrets, the DTPA, the UCC, employment and class actions in both state and federal court. He provides advice and counsel to clients at all stages of conflict from avoiding disputes, to alternative dispute resolution, trials and appeals.
