Emily F. Shanks

As a part of Gray Reed’s restructuring team of experienced and compassionate professionals, Emily Shanks brings her own unique skills and perspectives in safeguarding client interests, navigating the intricacies of the restructuring process and in developing personalized solutions to help clients achieve their goals. After graduating from Texas Tech University School of Law, Emily clerked for Justice Paul Green at the Supreme Court of Texas, gaining valuable and unique insight into the behind-the-scenes of high-stakes litigation and in shaping Texas state jurisprudence. She also served as Judge Scott Everett's first term-law clerk at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

In addition to her behind-the-bench experience, Emily has represented debtors, secured creditors and unsecured creditors in a wide range of corporate restructurings in various industries. She has also frequently represented secured lenders through in and out-of-court workouts, and she has worked on a variety of bankruptcy-related litigation. Emily also has experience in general commercial litigation, representing clients in both federal and state court matters.

As a dedicated advocate, Emily strives to continuously hone her legal expertise, and she actively contributes to the bankruptcy community as a whole through her involvement in numerous restructuring and bankruptcy organizations. She is also involved in the Junior League of Dallas where she enjoys engaging in the greater Dallas community through service.
