Top Litigator and Four Associates Join Gray Reed's Litigation Practice

HOUSTON – Veteran trial lawyer and litigator Darin L. Brooks joins Gray, Reed & McGraw this week together with four team members: John G. George, Jr., Meagan W. Glover, Kent L. Harkness and Brian E. Waters. The announcement represents a timely boost to Gray Reed’s growing litigation practice.

Brooks, who joins the firm as a shareholder, has built his practice concentrating on a wide range of commercial litigation and insurance coverage disputes. Among others, he represents major clients such as ConocoPhillips, Phillips 66, AIG and a variety of industries including energy, insurance, banking, franchises, manufacturing and retail. Brooks has also represented clients in a large variety of litigation, including energy, insurance, banking, commercial, products liability, and premises liability.  Having clerked for the Honorable Adele Hedges, Brooks also represents clients in appellate courts.

Named a “Texas Rising Star” and “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics magazines, Brooks has tried cases in federal court, state court, and before arbitration panels.

“We are very pleased to have a widely respected attorney of Darin’s consummate skill and leadership join our firm,” said the firm’s president, J. Cary Gray. “The timing is ideal as our litigation practice has seen a significant increase in demand that Darin and these four capable associates will surely help to fill.”

Joining Brooks are John G. George, Jr., who represents clients in commercial litigation, business torts, real estate, creditor collection, and third-party subpoenas, with a focus on energy litigation; Meagan W. Glover, who focuses her practice on state and federal civil matters, including commercial litigation, insurance, banking and financial services, and appellate work; Kent L. Harkness, who assists clients with commercial litigation in state and federal courts, primarily in the energy, banking, construction and real estate industries; and Brian E. Waters, whose practice consists of a wide variety of commercial litigation matters, including a focus on creditor collection, insurance and energy litigation.

“Gray Reed is one of the most respected firms in Texas, if not the country, and together with my colleagues I know this is the right move at the right time,” Brooks said. “Their commitment to serving clients and getting the job done is exactly how we like to do business.”
