Gray Reed Associate Named an Emerging Star by the Institute for Energy Law

The Institute for Energy Law (IEL) awarded Gray Reed Associate Gabe Oxford the Young Energy Professional’s inaugural Emerging Star Award, which was presented during the 7th National Young Energy Professionals' Law Conference on March 27, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Emerging Star Award is presented to young energy professionals with six or fewer years of experience in the energy profession.  Chosen by a selection committee that includes the officers of the Young Energy Professionals Committee and additional individuals selected by the Chair of IEL’s Advisory Board, Emerging Stars are selected for their exceptional client service, advocacy for the energy sector, as well as other outstanding and special achievements in the energy profession, including work in the energy sector and contributions to the development of other energy lawyers or professionals.

At Gray Reed, Oxford focuses her practice on resolving complex commercial disputes. With particular experience in the energy and construction industries, handling all aspects of litigation related to a wide variety of matters for commercial and industrial projects.

“Gabe is an Emerging Star in the energy industry not only because she is smart, but more so because she presciently understands emerging legal trends in the industry, actively listens and thinks prior to speaking, and maintains a human touch with clients that gives them comfort maneuvering through high-stakes litigation and an increasingly burdensome regulatory environment,” Gray Reed Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group Leader Mitch Ackal says.  “Gabe also exhibits a rare emotional intelligence, instinctively knowing when to use humor to palliate difficult moments, yet bringing to bear a tough, energetic and surgical-like advocacy that belies her tenure in the practice of law.”

Her commitment extends beyond her legal practice, as demonstrated by her substantial involvement in the Institute for Energy Law. In this capacity, she serves as an Advisory Board Member, as member of the Young Energy Professionals’ Council, and has served as the Vice Chair for the IEL Young Energy Professionals Committee's Law Student Outreach Subcommittee in addition to being a member of IEL’s esteemed 5th Leadership Class. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Oxford earned both her undergraduate and law degrees, leveraging her academic foundation during key roles at the Railroad Commission of Texas, the Texas Water Development Board, and as a policy analyst for a Texas senator. She was voted Permanent Class President by her UT law class and remains committed to the development of other young lawyers by serving as a mentor to UT law students, and other young energy professionals.
