Jim Ormiston Elected a Fellow of International Society of Barristers

Gray Reed Shareholder Jim Ormiston was elected a  Fellow of the well-respected International Society of Barristers. The prestigious society's membership is limited to 800 lawyers worldwide adjudged by their peers and judges to be outstanding in the field of advocacy.

Ormiston's induction as a Fellow into the International Society of Barristers followed strict nomination and admissions standards that call for "outstanding skills and extensive experience as a trial lawyer" and demand thorough vetting and evaluation by colleagues and judges. Attorneys accepted into the International Society of Barristers - which includes international Fellows - remain members for the duration of their careers.

An accomplished litigator, Ormiston has worked with Gray Reed for nearly 25 years and has established a reputation for excellence in complex commercial litigation. He has obtained favorable verdicts, judgments and settlements on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex business cases, including cases relating to oil and gas, trade secrets, real estate, products liability, UCC, antitrust, employment matters, construction contracts and consumer claims. Jim has also defended clients in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. In recent years, Jim has focused on the litigation of oil and gas cases, including disputes relating to natural gas purchase and sales contracts, gas processing agreements, transportation agreements, and acquisition agreements, as well as royalty disputes.

Ormiston earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's University of San Antonio.
