Gray Reed Attorney and State Representative Jeff Leach Appointed Vice Chairman of Urban Affairs Committee and to Economic and Small Business Development Committee

Gray Reed & McGraw attorney Jeff Leach, who represents House District 67 in the Texas House of Representatives, was recently appointed by Texas House Speaker Joe Straus as the Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Urban Affairs and as a Member of the House Committee on Economic & Small Business Development. In response, Representative Leach issued the following statement:

"It is an immense honor and privilege to continue my service in the Texas House of Representatives and I look forward, with great anticipation, to a productive legislative session. We have much work to do as we address the many opportunities and challenges facing our community and state and it is imperative to do so collaboratively alongside the people we are elected to serve. My door is always open and my fellow Texans have my full commitment to continue serving as their tireless advocate in Austin."

Since taking office in 2013, Leach has served on the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, the House Committee on Government Transparency and Operation, the House Committee on Urban Affairs and the House Committee on Rules & Resolutions. He also was elected by his colleagues to serve on the House Republican Caucus Policy Committee in 2013. During the 85th Texas Legislative Session, Leach is serving as Policy Chairman for the Texas House Freedom Caucus.

Rep. Leach has been recognized by numerous organizations across the state for his work during both the 83rd and 84th Legislative Sessions. Notably, Leach was named a "Taxpayer Champion" by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the state’s largest taxpayer watchdog organization.  Leach was also named a "Champion for Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business and was recognized as a “Guardian of Small Business” by NFIB Texas. Additionally, Leach received the “Public Service Award” from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas. In 2013, Capitol Inside named Leach as one of the "Best Freshman Legislators" and the Dallas Morning News singled Leach out as one of the "Best of the Dallas Area's Freshman Class."

At Gray Reed, Leach’s practice is focused primarily in the areas of complex commercial and civil litigation, construction law and real estate. His philosophy is to be an effective advocate by advising and counseling clients as to various options to resolve disputes and communicating directly with third parties and their counsel, judges, arbitrators and mediators in an effort to efficiently resolve disputes before they reach trial or arbitration.

Leach is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and attended Baylor University for his undergraduate degree.
